Day
01 DENPASAR-WAINGAPU
Morning flight from Denpasar to Waingapu.
On arrival at Mau'Hau Airport of Waingapu - East Sumba, transfer
to your hotel. After
having lunch
drive to Melolo, 62 km to the East to visit Pau and Praiyawang
for traditional houses which, stone graves and spectacular
traditional "Ikat" weaving
process. Return to hotel for overnight
Day02 WAINGAPU-WAIKABUBAK
After breakfast drive to Waikabubak in West Sumba a distance of 137
km (4 hours). On the way stops at Waibakul and Pasunga (Anakalang area)
to see the greatest stone graves and traditional houses of West Sumbanese
. On arrival at Waikabubak direct check-in to HOTEL MANANDANG or similar
for accommodation and meals.
Day 03 WAIKABUABAK
Breakfast at hotel. Start to explore West part of Sumba, drive to
Kodi for 2 hours to visit Bondo Kodi, Ronambaroro and Ratenggaro
villages
for traditional thatched roof and highest towering (10 meters) houses
and megalithic tombs. Then walk along the beautiful and quite beaches,
then cross the river (if the water permits) to Waiyapu village, another
West Sumbanese traditional village. After having lunch visit some
villages which located at small hills nearby the city of Waikabubak
such as
Puunaga, Tarung and Tabar, then to the local market to see the activities
of local people in selling and buying their daily need and hand-weaving.
After lunch drive to Wanokaka district to visit Waigali and Praigoli
villages for traditional houses which decorated by horns of huge
water buffaloes in front of it, the oldest stone grave called "Watu
Kajiwa" which believed as their ancestor's boats. Onto Lamboya
with visit to Bonduwunuta and Kadengar villages. Proceed to Maroshi
Beach for picnic lunch. Relaxing on the beach up to time back to
the hotel for accommodation and meal.
Day 04 WAIKABUBAK-DENPASAR
Breakfast at hotel. Transfer to the Airport for flight to Denpasar,
Bali.

HOTELS:
We choose the best available hotels in each tow, but the
facilities are very basic and the cleanliness will always
be the question mark. Be ready for adventure…….
WHAT TO BRING:
Dress is casual. Clothing should be light, preferably cotton
with at least one long sleeved shirt and pants. Bathing suit,
thongs or sandals and sneakers or walking boots, lots of
film, camera, replacement batteries, and spares. Women please
note Indonesia is a mostly Muslim country and custom dictates
modesty. Please be well covered on shore excursions. Bring
one light sweater or jacket as it can get cool in the highlands.
Also bring sun-screen, insect repellent, sunglasses, sunhat,
swimmers. Please advise beforehand if you have any special
dietary requirements. Beer is available at local rates. Bring
also your passport, visa, airline tickets, local currency
and or US$ in small denominations.
